The Chairman writes......Martin O'Keeffe

Dudley Canal Trust 40th Anniversary Boat Rally

Hopefully many of you managed to attend the recently held rally to celebrate 40 years of the Dudley Canal Trust. BCNS along with the Worcester Birmingham Canal Society helped DCT put the event on and from the comments recieved during and after the weekend it was a most successful weekend. My thanks to all BCNS members who were involved in the organistation of the weekend..

Phil's last issue

As you will be aware this will be the last issue of 'Boundary Post' that Phil Clayton will edit. Phil has been editor for nine years and has produced 39 issues a record that will be hard to beat. During that time he has improved the standard of the magazine and it is certainly one which the society can be pround of.

Let's hope that Phil has'nt completely put down his pen and that he can be persuaded to write for Boundary Post in the future. In the mean time he has our thanks for all the hard work and dedication to ensure that we have Boundary Post each quater. Thanks Phil!

Social Secretary

Christine Potter has indicated that she would not be standing again as social secretary at the AGM. So it would be remiss of me not to thank Christine for her organisation of our meetings over the years. Indeed Christine is so well organised that the programme for 2005 is also well in hand. I would like to record my appreciation of the diligence that Christine has displayed in ensuring that we can have an interesting and varied programme of meetings each year.

Council Posts

What of course this all means that it is imperative that people come forward to fill these council posts at the AGM. Without them it will be difficult to offer members the services that they expect. So if you are interested in taking on any of these jobs please give it some serious thought. To paraphrase Lord Kitchener 'Your Society needs you'.

No quite Finally

This may well be the last time I pen these lines for 'Boundary Post'; however as no doubt I will have an opportunity to say something at the AGM I will leave any final words to the next issue.
