I knew it would be hard writing Boundary Post this time of year when the weather calls you outside instead of in front of a computer. I keep nipping out to do the garden or even worse cruising the BCN! Those of you who managed the IWA Campaign Cruise will I'm sure agree with me when I say what a super weekend we had. I'm sorry if you missed it.
The weed on, the W&E I would have missed gladly but it was worth the effort. Phoenix got out there too and were we glad she did! There were a couple of places where boats got stuck & Phoenix came to the rescue with strong men and good equipment clearing bridge holes to let boats through. We were one of those boats so a special thanks for those concerned. Perhaps in the next issue we will find out how they got on and maybe a photo!. Boundary Post, although it is extremely time consuming it is more of a pleasure than I expected. So far I've been fortunate to receive many interesting items and others in the planning. Martin mentions the removal of the industrail heritage from Ickneild Port Loop and just a few weeks ago I noticed and photographed the crumbling building. I wonder what the people of the 19th century thought when these buildings were being put up. Did they look on them as an eyesore or as a necessity? Another series for the future will involve boats on the BCN that were built and worked on the BCN most of their long lives and are still there in working condition. This was triggered by a visit to the BCLM with grand sons, who noticed Ross, the ice breaker and brought it to my notice for the first time. Of course this edition features Bittell and that is a good start!... running out of room.. but I hope you enjoy reading this edition as much as I have preparing it. Brenda
