Notes from the Editor

I am commencing my second year as editor & our past Editor, Phil Clayton, is starting his first year as Chairman! I've given a new look to the cover of BP in his honour. I'm sure you will join me in wishing him all the very best for an interesting & fulfilling experience.

Where has the time gone? I've had a great deal to put in Boundary Post this time and have found myself juggling items and saving some for next time, including Part 4 of Phil's series on Junctions - so if you think there is something else missing look for it in edition 172.

An enormous amount has been published in the press over the past few months relating to the canals. From great developments to a Bishop riding out of the city "in a barge", to sightings of strange non indiginous species in the canal. Some of these items appear here in a reduced form but if you want details as reported in the papers let me know.
Have you heard about possible Black Country commuting on the canal at 14 miles per hour?.

I have included a stoppage notice for the BCN. Next year I'll get it in sooner in readiness for the Winter. Hope you find it useful.
My thanks to Bob Williams for supplying an updated map of the Lichfield Canal to compare with the 1975 copy by Nick Yarwood featured in BP 169.

Iwould like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year!.
Ihope it brings good health and nuch pleasure cruising the BCN and further! Do some cruising on the Wyrley & Essington before the weed takes hold or will it have been sucked up by then??
