Notes from the Editor

.This years cruising, for us, started with an amazing Explorer Cruise, with equally amazing people. There is no doubt that their enthusiasm and involvement and much of the time, their help, made it a very memorable experience. We'll do it again......but not just now!
Good news that Netherton Tunnel will have one of it's tow paths repaired. The Gauging Station at Tipton is quite an achievement but it's early to consider the final outcome. We'll keep our fingers crossed on that and give the Dudley Canal Trust our support when needed.
The speaker for September, Maureen Shaw, is unfortunately not well. Some of you who have travelled past the lock on the corner of the Middlewich Branch will know her. We wish her well and hope for a good recovery. We have managed to persuade Maurice Derby from Longwood Boat Club to give a look at the forming and workings of a boat club in the "far reaches" of the BCN. Many of our Explorer Cruise members spent an enjoyable evening there en route. A converted stable is the club house and a former"British Restaurant" during the war then a pig sty is the workshop. Sounds like it's worth a look!
I must say a special thank you to all who contribute to Boundary Post. I'am always amazed and really appreciate how you find time to gather such information. Bob with his photos, Ray for the incredible facts he produces and I must say, stores in his head. Don't forget to keep 2nd August free to come on his walk. Martin O'Keeffe joins us starting a series on BCN Tugs. We look forward to this. Those of you who have sent small items are equally important as the variety is, I feel, what makes any publication an interesting read.... keep sending them in.
