Council Notes

Those of you who attended the AGM in November will be aware that Phil Clayton did not apply for re-election as Chairman as he explained in his last Chairman's report in Boundary Post.

Council is undergoing a few changes this year and we are quite confident that a Chairman will be found before long but in the meantime all members of Council are sharing the jobs.

Barrie Johnson, in line with our Articles of Association, has stepped down from his place on Council but will continue to be Rally Organiser and will re-apply for a place on Council at the next AGM.

We have held two meetings since the AGM & many plans and decisions have been made. The £1000 grant received from Sandwell, 'Canals in the Community' for the refurbishment of Phoenix will be in action this year, with plans to paint inside and out, black the bottom and service the engine. We have a post box in position at the Pump House for BCNS mail so any official mail can be addressed to the Headquarters.- Still keep sending your Boundary Post Mail to the Editor's address!.

Our 40th Anniversary Rally (July 11th-13th) plans are well under way with Mike McClelland a former Social Secretary of BCNS, running a 60's disc on the Friday and the well known favourite Black Country comodian duo 'DANDY' entertaining us on the Saturday with a bar that won't run out of beer on both ndays! The entry form for this rally will be on the web site shortly or you can obtain a copy from Barrie, details in Events Section.

We are taking part in the Dudley Canal Improvements 150 celebrations - our part is on June 7th & 8th at Delph Locks. Details again to follow on site in Events Section.

The bonfire Rally was agreat success this year with more members of the public attending than ever before. We would like to thank everyone who helped on the day with special to Ken & Judy Turner for organising a 'Find the Golden Windless' competition. They raised £67 for the BCNS. Also Julie Finch, who as well as helping on the tea stand raised £87 selling raffle tickets. The Duck Race was won by Mrs Anderson but we cannot trace her as no details were put on her ticket so if Mrs Anderson would like to phone Barrie he will sort out her winnings.

In the past we have had a grant from Sandwell for the fireworks but this will not be the case this year so we are seeking sponsors. So far we have had a serious offer from Abbey Roofing. We'll keep you in touch with further developments.
